I hope you’re enjoying the series on religion. It has been well-received.
- Launch of New Blog Series: An Exploration of World Religions
- An Exploration of World Religions: Zoroastrianism Feel free to take another look as I updated with pictures of Monisha’s navjote.
I’m still looking to interview other religions (specifically Hinduism, Mormonism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Taoism). If you are interested in participating or know someone who might, please get in touch with me or comment below.
Have you seen Pope Francis’s TED talk? I have so much respect for the current leader of the Catholic church that I named my only son after him! All of the pope’s words and actions imbue love, kindness, compassion, and tenderness.
When I first heard of his TED talk, I simply read the transcript. Why listen to some guy speak in Italian when I don’t understand Italian! But I encourage you to listen to his 17 minute speech and read the subtitles, as it resonates more than reading words on a page.
Many of the headlines after his talk were misguided, indicating that his message was to leaders (i.e., Trump) to use their power for the good of others. That completely missed the point of the talk! The heart of the message is that everyone (normal people like you and me), not just Mother Theresa or the Good Samaritan or the Pope, can be an agent of change.
“Each and every one of us is irreplaceable in the eyes of God. Through the darkness of today’s conflicts, each and every one of us can become a bright candle, a reminder that light will overcome darkness, and never the other way around.”

I haven’t listened yet, but a friend of mine was at the TED conference and was so excited to hear his talk. She was inspired.
