I just learned about a new trick for bypassing the Facebook algorithm. Switch to a chronological view!
I started seeing posts from people I haven’t seen pop up in a long time! Hallelujah! Not the same funny animal videos that everyone likes.
Desktop
On your Facebook home page, on the left hand panel, click the three dots next to News Feed. Select Most Recent.
Mobile Device
On any Facebook page, click on the More tab (three lines on the bottom right). Scroll down to Feeds. Select Most Recent.

Brilliant! Does the setting stay or do you have to click on “most recent” each time you visit FB?
Unfortunately, you have to change the setting each time. It always defaults to the algorithm. Facebook can be so aggravating.
It’s like magic, isn’t it?! Otherwise, I miss SO MUCH.
