I’m really enjoying tonight’s academy awards. I love Jimmy Kimmel and glad that he was asked back to host. Although I told Dean, “Everyone else has been accused of sexual harassment so not sure who else could have hosted.”
I watched only a handful of the nominees: Get Out, Baby Driver, The Last Jedi, The Shape of Water, The Florida Project, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Of these, the only ones I enjoyed were the last two.
A few nights ago, we watched The Last Jedi and I was sorely disappointed. It was so bad that midway through, I hopped out of my seat to buy a glass of wine.
And last night, we purchased The Shape of Water for $14.99 because I wanted to watch it before the Oscars. Ehhh, didn’t think it warranted a best picture nod.
So clearly everyone has different tastes and that’s a good thing. Diversity! I’m looking forward to watching The Post, All the Money in the World, Lady Bird, Dunkirk and I, Tonya.

I usually have different taste than the Academy Awards and probably why I don’t bother watching anymore. So, I can totally relate and pretty much not sure why half of what won won anything to be honest. Glad to know it wasn’t just me 🙂

Lady Bird was fabulous – that and Get Out were the only two I saw. It was nice to see a much more diverse group of winners this year. And the last song performed, “This is Me,” made me cry.

Dunkirk was the only one I saw and it was amazing. Hoping that my friend’s son gets a whole bunch of nominations in 2019 even though it was released in February and it is a comic book- Black Panther, fare that the Academy will usually not touch.

I’m a little daunted by Dunkirk, it seems like one of those long epic films, but you’ve convinced me. And I must see Black Panther!

Somehow I slept through most of it! I was asleep by 9 PM, which was only an hour in. I hadn’t really seen any of the movies except for the winner for the best animated film! Yay!

Oh yes Coco! I have to watch Coco!

We saw The Post and Darkest Hour and loved both. I thought Jimmy did a great job hosting the Academy Awards. Watching all the clips makes me want to check out Lady Bird, Call Me By Your Name and I, Tonya (I love Alison Janney!).
