2018 Best Lent Ever: Day 7: Monterey and Pacific Grove

Two weekends ago, we had the privilege of attending the Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament this year, same as last year, because Dean’s company is one of the sponsors. We made it a 3-day weekend, hanging out at the beach and going to some yummy restaurants.

Have you read this pediatrician’s viral tweets about what matters to terminally ill children? Pets, ice-cream, books, swimming, the beach, kindness, laughter, and family time. Franco loves water and playing with sand, so ever since I read the viral tweets, I’m all about the beach!

Our hotel had a coffee table book about all the best things to do in Monterey. Franco pointed at a picture and said he  wanted to go there: Lovers Point beach in Pacific Grove. So there we went! Afterwards we had dinner at the fabulous Passionfish restaurant. Pacific Grove is my new favorite place. It’s so cute.

Saturday night we went to Tarpy’s which is one of my favorite restaurants in Monterey. I was a little anxious about taking Franco to dinner with Dean’s clients, but luckily Franco sat between me and a pediatrician. Score! He did great.

On Sunday, we went to Dennis the Menace park which is a children’s paradise: steam train, suspension bridge, a hedge maze and multiple play structures.

One last stop in Pacific Grove for brunch at the Red House Cafe.

I honestly thought we had done it all in Monterey (Cannery Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium, etc.), but there’s so much more to explore!

A few other weekend getaways:

  • Port Costa
  • Calistoga
  • Lake Tahoe

I am with you and a huge beach lover. That is why winters here for me are hard, because it is months off from getting to the beach. See we live about 5-10 minutes from the beach. So, cannot wait for warmer weather and beach time once again 😉

That is so cool that you live so close to the beach. We live on an island so the beach is always close.

That’s so heartbreaking and amazing about the tweets. My kids love the beach too.
