I’m not stupid. I get that we’re a nation divided. So there are going to be a lot of opinions and fireworks on Presidents Day.
Here are popular retweets with the hashtag #PresidentsDay.
Here was my own tweet:These are all personal opinions on individual feeds, which is healthy discourse and freedom of speech.
What I did not appreciate, more like it pissed me off, was this cover photo posted on Alameda Peeps, a local group of which I’m a member.
I commented that the photo of the Obamas is completely inappropriate for our nonpolitical group. This group posts about various events and recommendations in our city and it should be non-partisan. AMIRIGHT?! Although I’m an Obama fan, I think posting this photo as a group’s banner is an injustice to inclusion.
SOME PEOPLE JUST DON’T GET IT! WTF! And the banner is still up. It’s not even Presidents Day anymore!
Anyone have something they want to vent about today? Please share! Will be a good distraction for me.

Our nation has lost our collective mind. We need to look at ourselves and take stock in what really matters in our lives. Until we do that, things in this country are going to go down hill even more. People are so into B.S. that it is sad.

Patrick, every day I shake my head. Yes I’m anti-Trump, but still I try to understand Trump supporters. They are half our nation. I try to be respectful and sensitive and see other people’s points of view. If I cannot do that, then I might as well be friends with a robot who thinks and says the same things that I do. I agree we have to take stock of what matters most. Right now, politics is such a grievance, we need to go back to the basic tenet: love your neighbor!

One of the big problems is that hate is in. We are listening to the nutters on both the right and left. They have the floor right now and the scary thing is that when people ask questions they are ignored. That is a scary thing in a democracy.

I truly have become used being speechless at what I have seen the last few months. So, is it bad that that last post didn’t a shock me or even upset all that much. But like you, if I have to be honest, I am still a liberal and democrat at heart. So, I am disheartened more than anything by who is in the office right now and many of his current policies. But get your feelings still and seems like this is just a reaction to all of that. But does have a time and a place where it should and possibly shouldn’t belong.
Catherine
Thanks Janine, I am also really disheartened by what’s going on in politics and who our currently leader is. I dream of moving to Canada and ogling at Justin Trudeau 🙂

It’s so hard for me still to wrap my head around the fact that this man is our president. I’m not sure that I’ll ever wake up and feel completely comforted by that fact but you’re right… if we don’t see beyond the hate, we can never move forward, and I’d rather have peace in my heart than hate in my veins.
I think it’s important to understand that we ALL deserve our right to our opinions. And that we have to peacefully disagree when there is simply no common ground there. Respect can always be present, right?
I also think there’s a time and place for things, and posting something about the Obamas in a nonpolitical group does nothing but outrage people who do support this man who is currently our president.
I hope we can make our future great by our actions… big and small <3
