The following is my home trajectory:
Born in Oakland, CA
Raised in Alameda, CA
College in Berkeley, CA
Post-college stint in Emeryville, CA
Startup years in San Francisco, CA
Graduate school in Chicago, IL
Post-MBA career in San Francisco, CA
Raising a toddler in Alameda, CA
But my dream is to move back to the city. Huff and puff the San Francisco hills while drinking a hot chocolate from one of the local cafes. I miss all the great food options and the energy of the city.
A lot depends on Franco’s schooling. I need to do more research, but I don’t think Alameda has great schools. That said, I went to mediocre Catholic schools as a kid and I turned out above average.
I am certain that our current place is not our forever home.
What about you? Do you like where you currently live? Any plans or dreams to move? What is your ideal home base? Would love to hear!

Schooling really has so much to do with it. We are truly very lucky, because our school district is one of the best in the state and just glad my girls are able to attend as I have truly seen them only flourish there so far. Fingers crossed that stays that way now.

I truly believe that each of us is connected to a geographic location, a place that feels like home. We bought our 1st home in Glenview, Illinois because of its outstanding schools. Over the last 35 years, job transfers have taken us to other parts of the country 3 times. Each time we have known that we would return to Glenview and we did. We are now back for good. We are home.

I am certain that our current home is not our forever home only because my husband says so, but it will be our forever city/town/area. I love it in SD and don’t wanna move. I have a little sis who also has a love affair with SF. She just had a baby and says she can’t think of a single other place she would like to live.

Raised in Wilmette/Kenilworth, IL; off to Medford, MA for college; 5 years in Somerville, MA; Chicago for business school, then stayed there for 7 years (though moved from Hyde Park to Wicker Park); husband’s job then brought us to CA – SF for a year, and now we’ve been in Mountain View since 2011. There is so much that I love about our life here, including my 7-year-old’s school, which is amazing. But when I stop and think about it, I can’t believe I’m 41 years old and still renting. No matter how much we save each year, home prices go up that much more, such that we never seem to be at that magical 20% down payment. I can’t imagine not raising our kids in this community at this point, but I also hate the instability that comes from being a renter.

It’s tough for me. I love New England but I will always dream of northern CA, although not the city. I did that already!
Ideally I’ll win the lottery and do six months here and six months there!

I’ve always lived in Maryland, and I love the area where we are raising our kids. I’m not against moving, but it will depend in part on where our kids end up. I’m tied to people more than places. I have no plans to retire to Florida, though!

Hayward, Ca. I am made in Hayward. All of my schooling through teacher credential was done in the city. I was born in SF.
St.Joseph’s/Notre Dame is a good school. I went to ghetto Tennyson and a lot of my classmates have college degrees and are doing great.
