Death with Dignity

I have been so moved by 29-year-old newlywed Brittany Maynard’s bravery as she approaches the end of her life from brain cancer. She has moved with her husband from San Francisco to Portland, Oregon, one of five states that allows people to end their life with medication prescribed by a doctor for terminally ill patients. In her shortened time with us, she is advocating for everyone to have this option available to them.

Please watch this video, then scroll down for a link to sign Brittany’s card.

I just learned today that this courageous woman is my friend’s sister-in-law. My heart goes out to Brittany, her friends and family, and the Diaz family. Please sign this card to show your support.

Signing the card now and seriously my heart just goes out to her and her family. So tragic.

I saw this a couple of days ago. My prayers are with her.

This is so sad – yet again a reminder of how short life can be. You never know when your time card will be handed to you with an expiration date and you’ll never really be prepared for it, not at 29. I think as a parent it is more devastating to even fathom your child passing before you, at that age – with so much hope in their future. I already signed the card and it’s good to know about these states that do support death with dignity. Have a great weekend Catherine! -Iva

I watched the whole thing and it was the first time I really sat with it. I had seen mentions of it but I had never read a full article.
Glad I did although I’m heartbroken.

My heart breaks for the entire family. My mom has lost two adult children in the last few years – it is something that no mom should have to endure. I signed the card and will keep the entire family in my prayers.

This is so sad… I saw the story on Facebook recently, and I couldn’t imagine going through what this family is dealing with. Thank you for sharing, I’ll definitely sign the card.

I saw this on the news. It’s so so sad. I just can’t even imagine. I wish people just didn’t have to suffer like this.

Such a sad sad story! I read that article and I think we are approaching the time when she expected she would pass. It’s just so sad. I have no idea how it is to be in that position but I think I’d want that pill. I’d want that control to know that I can go when I’m ready.
