Those are scary prices for a 2 bedroom to me!
michelle,it’s pretty crazy, but that’s san francisco for you!
Yikes!! Rethinking the suburbs?
not yet, I see pros and cons to both areas!
Pretty depressing.
Here is one I learned (working in SFUSD you learn stuff), the city of San Francisco has the lowest percentage of families for a big city, also has the lowest percentage of home ownership and the highest percentage of renters.
You can draw your own conclusions.
very interesting facts. gotta love the big city- especially san francisco.
I’m depressed by these figures. Depressed but not at all surprised. I have a surprise for you though…I’ve nominated you for a Liebster Award! I hope that you accept the nomination. Go here –>http://be-quoted.com/?p=1455<–to accept your nomination.
andrea, yes, that’s what comes from living in the big city. thank you so much for the award, I appreciate it!
Wow and I thought prices on Long Island here were crazy for rentals!
janine, what are the prices like there compared to san francisco?
Here for $1000, you can get a one bedroom apartment. For a house rental, it is usually between $2,000 to $3,000.
Oh my word! My husband lived in a rent-controlled apartment in the Golden Gate Park panhandle area for 13 years. It was a beautiful two bedroom apartment with a backyard. I think he paid $1,300 – no lie. I have paid more on the east coast for sure.
tamara wow sounds beautiful. the cost of living in the city sure is amazing, but worth it to me!
Ah very eye-opening. The prices are higher than Orange County.
stevie, it sure is!
I always new it was bad up there!! My little sis has a 1 BR walking distance from Union Square and she pays so much for what she’s getting. Highway robbery I tell ya!!
Sounds like it’s expensive and that she is definitely paying the price to live so close to the city.
That is MORE insane than new york!! I can’t believe those figures!! wow.
nellie, it is pretty crazy, but that’s city living for you!
OUCH! Worse than New York for sure. Luckily, when I visited, I had enough hotel rewards for a FREE three night stay at the Omni in the Financial District.
stephanie, yes it is. sounds like you had a nice stay though – always nice to get things for free!
GOOD GOD!! That is CRAZY!! I am shuddering!-Ashley
ashley, it’s pretty bad, but that’s the cost of living in the city!
Yikes. My niece and her husband want to move to So. Calif. I saw on a salary chart California’s cost of living was like 33% higher than the national average. I hope her wages are 33% higher too. She is going to need it.
yeah that makes sense that the cost of living would be higher. you definitely need a good job to live here. good luck to your niece, hope she finds a nice place!
Those prices are so high! I grew up across the bay from SF. Now living out of state. Miss it though!
jean, the prices are really ridiculous! my husband is from scottsdale arizona!
