Money Monday: We Saved $1,605,179

money-monday-bannerUpdate on the house. We didn’t get it. But that’s ok because that means we saved ourselves from committing to $880,000 in lifetime debt, which in reality totals over $1.6 million in mortgage payments and interest.

The listing price was $975,000.

We offered $1.1 million.

The sellers are looking at offers well over $1.2 million. I’m curious to see what the final accepted offer price will be.

Oh well. Too bad, so sad. But seriously, I’m not sweating it. It just wasn’t meant to be.

We went to a pricey restaurant on Sunday night and Dean frowned at a $20 glass of wine. I laughed, “Go for it. We just saved over a million dollars!”

    🙁
You have a good attitude about it all, which I guess is the best way to be. I’m sorry you didn’t get it though!

Thanks Michelle. I am sure a more fitting property is in the works for us. For now I am ok with our $1700 rent 🙂

Loved your attitude on this for sure, Catherine. And would love to hear the final price it went for, too!!

Thanks Janine! I know that you may start looking soon. Redfin.com is very popular over here. Not sure what it’s like for your area, but great tool to do searches.

The market is so crazy here now too. Def drink up on the fancy wine before you find your next place!

Totally Kate, a few extra dollars seems so trivial compared to a mortgage!

Bummer about the house, but yay for the $20 glass of wine. We missed out on what I thought was our perfect first home years ago, but we found a different place soon after. Then I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. Hope that happens for you too.

Thanks Dana, I am pretty sure the same will happen for us as well! Everything happens for a reason.

Home buying is such a roller coaster ride. I guess the good news in this for all of us is that the housing market has improved and the economy is healthier. Small consolation for you as you go back into house hunting mode. Good luck!

Thanks Mo! I sold my home earlier this year so I think the housing gods were saving me from the stress…at least for a little while longer!
