Box of Sweet Goodness from Below the Equator

When people say ‘I have a sweet tooth,’ they say it almost as an after thought. Whereas when I say it, I mean I have this second personality called ‘Sweet Tooth.’ She’s this evil bitch that won’t stop complaining until you shove sugar down her mouth to shut her up. That is why I can honestly say this is one of the best presents ever: Havanna alfajores straight from Argentina. Thanks to my wifie for bringing me a box from her ancestral home. Ever since I had one while vacationing in Buenos Aires years ago, I’ve considered the treat one of my very favorite desserts of all time.

Alfajores are kinda like Oreo cookies but way better. There’s the cookie but inside is dulce de leche (instead of that processed white cream in an Oreo), then it’s coated all over with either milk chocolate or powdered sugar. Yes, that’s how good they are. I dedicated a post to Havanna alfajores.

Did a quick search to find them selling on Amazon for $50 for a single box. Holy! That’s one big shipping charge. They must have these somewhere in the Mission. Anyone have any ideas?
