Money Monday: Interviewing

This post is really only related to money in that I’ve been interviewing lately and your job is how you make money and support your family. Interviewing is like any other skill. If you don’t do it, you lose it. The more you do, the better you get.

I’ve complained in the past about feeling used by others trying to take advantage of my network and connections. Not being appreciated. Not reciprocating when I’ve asked them for help. But this is a happy post because I asked a friend of mine for help on an upcoming interview.

He sent several back and forth emails. I scheduled a conference call, and he got another relevant person to also join the conference call. They spent 45 minutes of their time today walking me through the hierarchy, the business, new developments and initiatives. They reiterated what they thought was most pertinent based on the job description. They repeated what they believed I would get asked and how I should respond.  After the call, I felt prepared and confident.

I’m sending lots of positive karma their way. So generous of them to think of the key issues prior to the call and make sure that our call was a productive one.
