Money Monday: Miles

Anyone out there collect miles? Have a United Mileage Plus account?

Am I the only one who thinks miles are one big waste of time? I’ve never been one to hoard them, so I can’t speak officially. But let’s say you’ve got a wad of miles, you try to redeem them, but there are all these restrictions!

I want to hear from anyone out there who thinks miles are worth it.

Miles or 1.5% cash back. Don’t be dumb.

I had an American miles card back when I traveled a lot for work (and I booked my own travel, so I could make sure it was always on American). When I was getting a lot of miles anyway, I found it was nice to supplement them. Also, while I occasionally cashed in miles to book tickets, I mostly used them to upgrade whenever possible – especially on trips longer than a couple of hours.

Now, though, I don’t travel enough (or spend enough!) to make it worthwhile.
