Money Monday: City Car Share

We only have one car at our place here in San Francisco. We keep the other one in Alameda with my folks. The problem with being a one-car household is that I can’t run errands while Dean is at work in San Mateo. That is, until I discovered City Car Share!

I did some price comparisons and it looks like City Car Share is cheaper than Zip Car. City Car Share has a monthly membership fee of $10, charges approximately $5.50 an hour, and $0.35 a mile. I can go grocery shopping and run an hour’s worth of errands for less than the price of a Subway meal. As long as you’re careful with your alcohol intake, you can do City Car Share instead of cabbing everywhere. So much cheaper.

And get this. There is a City Car Share hub half-a-block down the street. It doesn’t get anymore convenient than that! Here is the car that I have been using. So easy!
