26 days sober, 18 more to go. If you’re Catholic and detail-oriented, you’ll know that takes me through Good Friday which happens to be my husband’s birthday and the start of our honeymoon. So I’ll be having a stiff drink at 12:01am on April 22. Location to be determined and blogged for all of you to join me.
Given the newfound clarity, I’ve really been able to establish a closer bond to God. Every time I long for a sip of alcohol (which is often), I think about God…which is the whole point. I have this feeling that after Easter passes, I’ll probably have the same religious thoughts every time I have a drink–and how I went 40+ days without it. Big pat on the back for Catherine.
The one negative in all this is that I’ve replaced alcohol with sugar. Lots of sugar. Daily, I devour See’s chocolates, cupcakes, carrot cake, cookies, Dove’s chocolate ice-cream bars, cheesecake… I’ve gone cuckoo for chocolate which is a big problem. Big kick in the butt for Catherine.
