After all the Giants festivities, we decided to get literary by attending the Mark Twain Ball last night at the Herbst Green Room. The event was put on by Litquake, the Bancroft Library, UC Press, and the California Historical Society in honor of Mark Twain’s Autobiography which he instructed to have published 100 years after his death. It was a smooth, relaxed program starting with ragtime piano, a video and slideshow of Mark Twain, readings by A.C.T. actors, and interpretive dancing from the Zaccho Dance Theatre. There was plenty of good food and yummy drinks including the Sarsaparilla Soda that was so strong, I sipped it throughout the evening, then passed out in bed by midnight. I just want to sleep and relax this weekend.
