Insurance

Has anyone read their insurance policy in detail? Has it ever occurred to you that they’re a scam and they cover shit? Let’s take the policy that covers my condo unit. A while back when I still lived in my condo, I suddenly burst into tears when my beloved Rolex slipped from my lotion-y hands and cracked when it hit the bathroom tile. Head in the clouds, I thought there might be a remote possibility it would be covered through my home insurance plan. Um no. To be covered, each jewelry piece needs to be scheduled. Then I had water damage from my ceiling. Of course that wasn’t covered either. So I finally thought to read the policy word-for-word and realized, these insurance companies do not cover jack shit. They have an exception for pretty much everything. Robbery? Must show proof of forced entry. Contractors are also excluded. That means if you’re having work done on your place and one of a gaggle of Mexicans decides to loot your laptop, then you’re screwed.

Is it just me? But insurance policies are a waste of money and I have since lapsed on all of my plans with the exception of auto. That’s required, right?
