Tapped Out

I’m totally tapped out.  I’ve been hanging out with people who’ve come in from out of town.  I’m going to be gone the next three weekends in a row: Los Angeles, Burning Man, Hamptons.  I still have to wrap my head around packing!  When it’s all said and done, I’ll have written out approximately 100 thank you cards for the wedding.  And that’s only for the gifts so far.  The 2-bedroom condo above mine is going through a sale and I’ve been designated the head of our HOA.  I have been filling out and faxing forms nonstop. Oh yes, and I’m recovering from a fever/cold that didn’t go away easily.

Here’s the kicker.  In the past week, three people have contacted me so they could learn about my education, my career path, my job function.  “XXX recommended you as someone with exceptional advice.”  Believe me, I understand the importance of giving back and reciprocity.  But these people have no ties to any of my alma maters.  Other people told them to contact me.  Other people who have MBAs and a career path that’s just as good as mine! Stop fucking prostituting me out, people!

Please do not have your siblings, your cousins, your friends, your friends of friends contact me.  I have enough on my plate already.  I have friends and people I care about who I’m trying to cater to.

You are perfectly capable of helping your own network.  Please do not send them my way.
