Tonight is our sixth dance class. We have been doing the same set of 8-counts ever since we started wedding planning. Last time Dean complained about continuing, “I don’t understand why we need more lessons. Aren’t we done already?”
To further my aggravation, he looks at me upset when he’s off-beat and completely doing the wrong move. And has the nerve to say, “We’re off. We’re off!”
Well, buddy, I’m not the one who’s off. Look in the mirror.
I get dance. I get it. I’m no candidate for So You Think You Can Dance, but I can certainly keep the beat and learn a routine quickly. This dance we’ve been practicing for the past several months, I learned it in the first half hour that the instructor taught it. In fact, the instructor pulled me aside after the first class and said in her Americanized Russian accent, “Catherine, you’ll have to be the one who leads.” The only reason we’ve been back is because my future hubby is all left feet.
Here’s my dilemma, do I do the dance routine the way it should be done? Or should I follow his off-key movements so that we look more synchronized?
