Speaking of weddings, I hear nuptial bells in the future for a dear friend of mine.
I am always skeptical when I hear my single friends gush about guys. I would know. I used to be one of those girls.
“We talk all the time!” Translation: He texts me a couple times a week.
“He’s different from the other guys.” Translation: He actually pays the bill.
“He’s close to his family.” Translation: He needs to be close to them because he could use the inheritance to pay off his credit card debt.
“He’s thoughtful.” Translation: He sends me an email within one day (give or take) of my birthday.
“He gets along with my friends.” Translation: He’s ready to pounce on them as soon as I go to the bathroom.
So when my friend went on about this new guy she was dating, I figured it wouldn’t last long. They never do. But this time, even I’ll admit that it’s different. She’s giddy when she talks about him. I get giddy hearing her talk about him. They hang out almost every day. We setup a double-date and I was giddy watching them together. Two hot, smart people who looked very much in love. I couldn’t be happier.
