You know, since yesterday it’s been on my mind at various points to send you this welcome email and I’m just now getting to it.

Sorry we are not gonna be able to make your birthday picnic, Hector (from Hastings) is getting married this weekend in Paso Robles. So we’ll have to set something up for me to take you out for your birthday. We also still want to take you guys out to celebrate your engagement. If you play your cards right you may be able to milk this for 2 separate dinners. And I suspect, the next 4-6 weeks will be filled with several individual birthday dinners.

This week is really bad for me. Next week is better, but Friday and the next weekend are out, b/c Chavonta’s friend is getting married in Monterey, then there’s July 4th. But maybe we could do your birthday dinner next week after work sometime.

Finally, happy belated “Best Friends Day!” Although at least one website says there’s a debate re: whether it falls on June 8 or August 15. Either way, your my best friend and I love you.

And one more email from a business school friend. Many good friends I have. I must count my blessings.

Happy birthday Catherine. Hope you get out and celebrate. Sorry that I won’t be able to celebrate with you this weekend. My parents are in town visiting from Virginia. But if Paul hasn’t told you, we would like to plan an engagement celebration in the near future! We can chat about that later.
