Easter Vacation

Praise the Lord, I am going on vacation!

Several years ago when Jen and I were on our ‘honeymoon’ in Nicaragua, in-between episodes of Lost, we happened upon a TV show that scoured the United States for great hotels.  One of them was The Library in NYC which is right up my alley.  Each room has a different book-related theme.  Work has practically ended all travel so my chances of staying at the posh Library are slim.
One of the other hotels was a resort and spa called The Boulders in Scottsdale, Arizona.  It looked like the perfect place to go golfing…very suburban and green with dark rust-colored boulders in the background.  I remember it distinctly because of all the boulders.
Now that Dean and I have decided to take a mini-vacation to Scottsdale to hang out in his stomping grounds and with his family for Easter, he mentioned the hotel to me.  “There’s this place called The Boulders.  It’s nice.  We could stay there.”  I nodded.  I trusted he would pick a nice place and didn’t put the connection together with the hotel I had seen on the TV show.
Until I googled it.  OMIGOD.  I am so excited!  It looks so cute and relaxing.  Several pools, lots of places to lounge and relax.  And probably my favorite?  The spa.  Not that I am a big spa person, I just love steam rooms.  I feel like I’m on vacation when I’m in a steam room…any steam room.  It can be the steam room in my former gym at the JCC.  Heaven.  But a steam room in a place I’ve never been with my boyfriend?  Even better!
I can’t wait.  I deserve this vacation.  I can’t wait to get away and rejuvenate.  And I’m already planning an Easter egg hunt for Dean’s nieces and nephews.  “Dean, how many kids?  What are their names and ages?  I’ve got to start preparing!”

catherine – i vacationed at the boulders a few years back. i prefer casita style rooms in lieu of traditional hotel rooms any day. the bathtub and bathroom area inside the actual casita is spacious (1/2 the size of the actual casita itself). there is also enough room for a queen size bed, fireplace, and 2 leather love seats. in fact, they are running vacation specials at the moment.

the red door spa was nice. and, the bakery and mexican restaurant in the shopping plaza connected to the boulders is yummy, too.

    have a blast!
