21 Unique Things About Me

1. My parents immigrated here from the Philippines.
2. I’m a devout Catholic. I pray every night and I make an effort to go to church every Sunday–not because I have to, but because I like to.
3. I hardly ever lose anything.
4. I’ve travelled to every continent except Antarctica. My favorite places are Paris, Nicaragua, Belize, and Brazil.
5. My older sister and I can pass as twins. We have polar opposite personalities.
6. Writing is my passion.
7. I’m allergic to chlorine, chemical sunscreens, and eggplant. Hence, I lost my ability to swim. I use zinc oxide which is a physical-block sunscreen. And I shun eggplant parmesan.
8. I don’t drink coffee, but I drink tea and diet cokes all day long.
9. I have an extreme, addictive personality. I like to think I can out-eat, out-drink and out-run anyone. For years I ran an hour a day, ran a few marathons. And now, I don’t exercise at all. But I’ll still out-run you.
10. My cooking is laughable. I can serve you one of an assortment of Lean Cuisines stuffed in my freezer.
11. Safety third. I’ve never cared to live in a safe neighborhood. I don’t care that I live a block away from the projects. I’m ok traveling alone. Shit happens.
12. I peruse fashion magazines and tear pages out. On Sunday evenings, I put together outfits for the week based on the outfits I’ve torn out of the magazines.
13. I stay away from bread, but never hesitate to order french fries if they’re served at a restaurant.
14. I do not own a TV.
15. I’m a hyper-organized, clean, neat freak with list in hand.
16. I feel blessed to have had a beautiful, fun, unconditional-loving relationship with someone who is now one of my closest friends.
17. My prized possessions are a Tempurpedic bed, a fur coat, and a Rolex my parents gave me when I finished my MBA.
18. I have been sober for 12 days and considering making it a lifestyle change.
19. I’m a workaholic.
20. I can spend all day doing word games: Jumble, Scrabble, Boggle.
21. I’m most proud of the diversity of friends I have cultivated from all different backgrounds.
