These are not new year’s resolutions, but experiences that I expect to happen.
Already off to an amazing start, 2009 is going to be the best year of my life thus far. I’m going to look back on this year with fond memories, knowing I spent every moment doing something I absolutely love with people I want to spend it with.
There isn’t anything I want to change about work. I love going into the office every day, learning about the markets, understanding how we’re impacted, and talking to investors. I’m passionate about my job, the company, our team members. And with passion comes promotion. I expect a bonus and raise even bigger than last year.
When I’m not working, I want to spend quality time with my family and friends: singing to Benicio, reading with Dominic, sleeping over in Brisbane, going to brunches and dinners with friends. This year will be a special Burning Man as I’ll be surrounded by a community of people I consider to be some of my closest friends. I will go on a luxury vacation; I can already picture myself in a bright yellow bikini against a backdrop of clear turquoise water.
And when I’m not surrounded by co-workers or family or friends, I see myself writing happily for the passion of it, to understand myself. And I do see my writing in print…because others can relate and see themselves in my stories.
I will live with intention and not expectation.
I will not expect anyone else to create my happiness.
I will do it myself. I believe in myself.
And my dreams won’t be dreams anymore, but experiences I live out every day.
