I did a great deal of research when deciding on a matchmaker. If you want a list, I can provide you with one. The top one is Kelleher based in Sausalito. I almost went with them, but the startup from Palo Alto–Linx Dating–convinced me otherwise. They all cost money, a lot of it. But there’s one that doesn’t charge.
It’s called Perfect Search headquartered a short walk from where I work. Well, let me clarify. They charge the men lots of money, approximately three times what I paid for Linx. And the ladies, well, they get in free. Interesting variation on the theme. What girl wouldn’t want to register on the database with the hopes of finding the man of their dreams?
Free? Was it really free? Ok, one last clarification. It’s not completely free. They charge the women about $20 to put their profile in the database. But after seeing all these outrageous matchmaking fees, this was a welcome change. I filled out their forms, and was called into their office for a one-hour group interview. I was scheduled with two other women. I was the youngest. The other one was probably in her mid-forties. And the third was in her fifties. She was pretty hot. She looked like Barbara Stanwyck.
The group interview focused mainly on us. Where are you from? What do you do? What are you passionate about? What’s your greatest achievement? What’s your biggest fear? Walk me through a typical day. Surprisingly, during that interview, I fell in love with these two other women. They had such amazing stories. The one in her forties was trained as a doctor at Johns Hopkins, but decided she didn’t like it after practicing. Instead, she consults to hospitals throughout the country. Barbara Stanwyck found the love of her life when she came home from work, dead of a heart attack, a year earlier. She was a consultant to the stars, helping them decorate their homes or change up their wardrobes. Pretty amazing. Of the three, I felt like the most dull candidate.
And since then, Perfect Search has sent four guys my way. I think that’s a pretty good hit rate considering I barely paid for their services. The problem is that they’re looking out for their candidates personal interests, hoping to send them women who meet their criteria. Two of the guys were extremely bad-looking. Hence, I’m posting the picture of one of them above. The other two were really good looking! I agreed to let them send my information to the men. But one guy didn’t seem interested. And the other guy said I was just too short 🙁
Well, at least I am trying and keeping all my options open.
It will happen one day. And I think it has happened. But more on that later. I still have more blog catching up to do. One post at a time.
Here is the email word for word (grammatical errors included) that Perfect Search sent to me on behalf of the guy above. She described him as ‘good looking.’ What an outright lie!
