I had planned on working a Saturday phone-a-thon for the Hillary Clinton campaign prior to Super Tuesday. It never worked out with my schedule, but some emails came through asking for our help to make phone calls before the upcoming primaries.
The Goal: 1,000,000 calls for Hillary Clinton over the next three weeks.
The goal was set not too long ago (less than a week) and it’s already been surpassed with 1.4 million calls. Regardless, I still signed up to help out this weekend. So this morning after taking Dominic to his MyGym class, I decided to make ten phone calls. The process is amazingly easy and seamless. You just have to register on the HillaryClinton.com site–which I’m already a member of, log in, then click ‘Start Making Calls.’ The system will generate a name and phone number, and the screen is well organized with a script for every situation (if the person picks up, if there’s voicemail, if it’s not the person but they’ll take a message…).
Now my goal was ten phone calls. Everyone I called was in Wisconsin. Everyone I had to call was a woman (not sure if that’s because I’m a female volunteer). And get this…every single person I called picked up the damn phone! The first half didn’t turn out so well. Most said they were voting for another candidate. A couple hung up. But the last half of my batch said they were voting for Hillary which totally made my day. I was thinking I was going to have to go through the rest of my Saturday in a miserable mood.
Hip hip hooray for Hillary!
