No Extra Credit

Marc: I didn’t accomplish any of my goals.
Me: What do you mean you didn’t accomplish any of your goals?
Marc: Catchee, I found a list of goals that I made for 2007 and I didn’t accomplish a single one.
Me: Well what about buying a place? You did that. Look how great your place is.
Marc: That wasn’t even on my list!
Me: OmiGod, it’s like doing more work and not getting any extra credit.

——

Well, it looks like I myself won’t be getting extra credit for last year. I dug up my 2007 goals.

I’ll start with the ones I did not accomplish:
Start actively volunteering.
Eat more fruit and veggies.
Figure out a vitamin regimen.
Go hiking once a month.
Run another marathon.
Write in my blog seven times a week.
Take a photography class.
Take a Spanish class.
Go to Chile.

Here are the ones I did:
Pray every day.
Go to Church once a month (woohoo, I overdelivered on that one–going almost every week).
Try working with a therapist.
Try to cook (hey people, at least I tried!).
Consider not drinking (I considered it…momentarily.).
Go on a cleanse.
Join a gym.
Get published (does KQED count?).
Join a writing salon or take a class.
Active in a book club.
Get a new job / new position.
Go to NYC.

I once went to a gay AA meeting and was fixated on the guy in front of me wearing a fur collar lined track jacket by some expensive designer. I wanted it. I have not forgotten it. I kept thinking to myself, how does one with a dependency problem afford such luxury……..anyways..you really don’t have serious problems…and aint nobody gonna buy you want you want except you…so enjoy.
