More Virgin Stories

After getting my poonani waxed, my other ‘first’ stories are more tame. Sidenote: I am enjoying the brazilian while it lasts. Still looking pretty good four weeks later.

While in New York, me and a friend went to the Bronx Zoo. I have to say, I think that was the highlight of my trip. We saw tigers, a polar bear, the butterfly exhibit, and at the very end…the gorilla exhibit. Very very cool. The zoo is expansive. I was pooped by the end of the day. In Chicago, I thought I was the cat’s meow for living right across from the Lincoln Park Zoo. The Bronx Zoo blows it out of the water. Top notch. I took tons of pictures, I was so excited.

Next up was the limo trip around Sonoma. I talked about that already. So fun. We’ll all have to do that again sometime soon.

Last weekend, I watched a soccer game for the first time ever. Live! Jen invited me to her friends’ third annual soccer game. This wasn’t just about a bunch of guys getting together to play. No, it was a major event. Apparently, each year they continue to outdo themselves. It’s Northern California vs. Southern California with the SoCal team flying up for the weekend. They’ve got uniforms. They rented out the San Francisco City College stadium which entailed filing for insurance. Official referees were hired. Friends gathered around and picnicked on the sidelines. What a blast!

But it didn’t end there. No, there was a late night after party at their hotel suite. We walked in to tables of food that were sponsored by local restaurants La Mediterranee and Chevy’s. They raffled off a $100 gift certificate from Gordon Biersch. Holy shit, I was impressed. The organizer had also created and edited a video to broadcast what happened last year, introducing each of the players and including clips from the game. Medallions were awarded to the members of the winning team. Trophies were distributed to the MVP and Most Improved. It was fucking hilarious.

Jen and I had fun coming up with new ideas for the next year. Cheerleaders for the game! We were both cheerleaders in high school. The guys were totally into that, insisting on auditions! The stadium scoreboard needs to be worked up. Fireworks for the goals. Someone else thought of having a billboard positioned front and center for the after party: “The Marriott welcomes the soccer team to its fourth annual tournament.”

It’s a good thing you didn’t go looking for the zoo in Brooklyn…
