Candy Affair

I wouldn’t say I completely dumped Chip, but I am having an affair. Don’t get me wrong, I still see Chip on the weekends, but my weekdays are reserved for See’s.

I got a little antsy one afternoon. Didn’t feel like having a chocolate chip cookie. I walked around the Embarcadero and discovered an old friend, See’s Candies. I pretty much grew up with See’s…there was one in the town shopping center. Every once in a while, I got a sucker or a nut cluster. It was always fun to walk in the sweet-smelling store and pick out a treat.

The store in the Embarcadero seems to have withstood time. It looks the same as the store I grew up with. I got a cup of toffee-ettes and have been there every weekday since. Toffee-ettes are just like Almond Rocha. I’ll get one or two cups (2 or 4 pieces) depending on how full I am from lunch. It didn’t cross my mind how caloric these little babies are until I read the nutritional content on a cannister. Each one is 100 calories. One little candy. Oh my!

Every morning, I get a Starbucks grande hot chocolate with whip. I just googled it now…450 calories. Holy crap. I might as well have 2 Eggo waffles for breakfast! This sweet tooth is killing me.
