Food Fanatic

I don’t consider myself a foodie. Come on, I’m the girl who’ll glady choose Jack-in-the-Box curly fries over a teaspoon of fine caviar any day. But I have been to some really amazing places lately that I wanted to share.

Last week, six of us revelled in all that Perbacco had to offer. And I mean…ALL. Cocktails, cheese plates, appetizers, entrees, desserts, several bottles of wines, and even more cocktails and wine. It was a fine night and I do have to say that a group of six…tasting each other’s food, trying out different things, gossiping, laughing…a group of six is a good dinner party number. Everything was super yummy, but the steak was amazing. Only one person got it (poor guy) and he kindly doled out pieces of it to the rest of us. It was so good I said I was going to have the steak for dessert.

BIX is consistently billed as one of the top restaurants in the city. Is it really what it’s cracked up to be? It really fucking is. Omigosh, I can’t remember the last time I had such a wonderful, fine meal. I loved the oysters. I got the crab spaghetti. Wow! So good, so filling, I didn’t even have dessert.

Then there’s Aperto. I don’t even want to talk about this place, I’m scared it’ll be over-run en masse. It’s this small family-owned Italian place in Potrero Hill. I’m not a big fan of pasta / Italian food, but I foresee becoming a regular. Their meals pack a tasty punch. Excellent cuisine, even better value for the money. Please try it, they deserve your business.

And lastly, that leads me to the new job. I’m not used to having food brought in. I’m not used to going out to eat with clients. My normal eating patterns are out of whack. Sometimes we’ll go for a marathon of meetings, non-stop. I’m used to feeding my growling tummy every two hours. This leads to a bad cycle of over-eating when I have time. My body’s not pleased with me. I’m hoping it’s just this time of the year. Hopefully, my eating schedule will normalize starting this week.
