Ok, I’m obsessed. I went to the ballet again today. It was the last day of the second program and I just had to go. On the last day of a program, there is no discounting. Still, I was hoping to finagle my way into a discount by talking to the window attendant about the curtain slamming down during yesterday’s performance. Apparently, the curtain dropping was part of the ballet! Some kind of creative flaw in the artistic director’s mind if you ask me. The window attendant said she had the same reaction as me…and that was opening night. Phew. I thought I was getting ripped off. Anyhow, this program was even better than the first. Extraordinary! Yuan Yuan Tan, who is my favorite principal dancer, was announced as a last minute replacement for the third performance (a world premiere) and I almost peed in my pants, I was so excited. As always, her performance was amazing. The crowd roared when she came out for her final bow.
I’m not a fan of full-length ballets like Sleeping Beauty which is up next. So the next ballet for me is the mixed repertory, Program 4 which starts on March 13 for anyone who cares to join me.
