Making Up for Lost Time

It worked.

The Ambien, that is.

I took the sleepy pill before writing in the blog last night. Jumped in the shower and I swear to God I almost collapsed mid-stream. I felt an extreme sense of urgency. The same urgency I feel pre-vomit, the urgency to find a toilet…quick!

I rinsed quickly. I didn’t even bother to shave my legs. Hell, my boyfriend’s mad at me. Who knows when I’ll hear from him? It was 9:15pm.

I had to get to bed…quick!

I stopped the tune on Rhapsody. I don’t even remember what was playing. My whole body felt heavy. I pushed against the walls for support as I ran around, turning off the lights and extinguishing the candles.

“G’night, Rex!” I murmured those last words to my fish–so named because he doesn’t like to eat. He’s ano-Rex-ic. My car, by the way–a Honda Civic–I call her Shonda.

I dived into bed. Ten restful, beautiful hours of sleep.
