I went to the Alt SF conference last year, but I attended my first blogger meetup on Friday. It was hosted by the craft-fabulous Brit + Co in their new space which is two blocks away from my home. So convenient for me as I took a very short bus ride from work, then walked home. Brit + Co received more than $6 million in funding last summer.
The event was very well-organized by J for Jamie and Of Trees & Hues. What I liked about it was that it was small and intimate. I get totally overwhelmed in large groups, which was why attending Alt SF kinda made me hyperventilate.
I also just finished up a really tough week at work, including a 4am start on Tuesday. Plus I was up until 9pm the night before troubleshooting a major issue. Shoot me! All that said, I was the first person to leave the blogger meetup because this pregnant lady was exhausted. Queue the song ‘She Works Hard for the Money.’
I got to meet great women at the event and I’m looking forward to tapping into their businesses/blogs. And check out the generous schwag.

That sounds like loads of fun, especially since it was intimate so you could interact with peeps more. I’m hoping to make it to one near me in February, excited to meet other local bloggers. 🙂 Glad you had fun and hope you’re enjoying your weekend Catherine! -Iva

That place looks way cool-very ‘urban San Francisco! I’m glad to hear there are good blogger meetups for you up there. You’ve inspired me to check Meetup of some San Diego bloggers!

Hey lady! I cosign re: smaller, more intimate events. I get giddy (and not in a good way!) at large events. I know you’re looking forward to things slowing down a bit at work!
Catherine
glad i’m not alone in that, smaller events are definitely better! yes, i am and hopefully they will soon, thanks!
Andrea
Any pregnant lady who can manage to drag herself out of the bed at 4am deserves the outmost respect. You take the cake. Please promise to take me to at least one blogger meet up when I move back home. I am sooo jealous. P.S. We need more preggo pics of you and your belly.
Catherine
andrea, what’s your bay area ETA? i will mark my calendar! can’t wait to give you a big hug in person!

It was such a delight to finally meet you, Catherine! I’ve been following you & your blog for what seems like ages now, so it was a treat to meet you in person. 🙂

Catherine

michelle
That sounds like it was lovely! I don’t do well in big crowds either! I’ve enjoyed going to the smaller blog conferences. I haven’t really done meetups, unless you count having Tamara and Ilene over to my house! 🙂
Catherine
michelle, having tamara and ilene over to your house counts as a meetup! if i were on the east coast, i would so be there 🙂
Alexandra Mercer
Looks like so much fun!
Catherine
thank you, it was a blast!
Kelly @ A Side of Sweet

Catherine

Jean
Would you go again? I’d love to go to a meetup, especially if I could combine it with a trip to the Bay Area.
Catherine
jean, i’d totally go again. i think meetups are great, because you’re not committing so much of your time and money (like a conference).
