Double Trouble: 40-Year-Old Birthday Bashes

On Saturday we went to, not one, but two 40th birthday parties. If that weren’t enough of a hoot, neither of them were in the city so we traversed the East Bay and North Bay to celebrate with our birthday friends.

Jud is someone I used to date many moons ago. I’ll even admit it’s a bit strange hanging out, but we randomly reconnected in wine country with our spouses and completely hit it off. Jud is an event planner who went all out for his birthday. I felt like I was re-living my wedding as a guest versus the bride. He had an outdoor BBQ, copious amounts of food and alcohol, and a photobooth. Oh yes, and inflatable Twister.

We left the outdoors for an incredible dinner at Marinitas in San Anselmo for my Burner and ARTery friend Kitty. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, someone handed us freshly-made margaritas. That’s what I’m talking about! The Mexican food was to-die-for and even though I was as stuffed as a pinata, I could not pass up the churros dipped in gooey chocolate! Kitty is my Gemini twin, coincidentally, in many aspects. But most obviously, we are both Katherine/Catherines born on June 18. So happy birthday to us this coming Saturday!

Aw. Thanks for the name check. And guess what? We are both Catherines, with a C! Don’t let the K in Kitty fool you. Love it when a fellow foodie has a great restaurant experience. I sure did. Happy Birthday to us!
