Palm Reading

I got my palm read tonight by one of Marc’s friend’s who took it up as a hobby. She is really scientific about it, going through the different palm characteristics, then translating what it all means. She did her undergrad at Berkeley and is there now getting her PhD so she must know what she’s talking about! She said she’s been doing it for years and continues to learn. And she said she especially enjoys reading palms of people she doesn’t know–like me. So here’s what she said.

She started out by telling me that I’m an old soul because I have these cross-hatched lines all over my palms. An old soul is someone who seems to have innate knowledge about life. A young soul is someone who wants to experience everything. You can tell a young soul that slamming into a wall will hurt, but the young soul will want to do it anyway. An old soul will say, “I know. Been there, done that.”

Your two palms are different. The left hand is your track record (past). The right hand is your future. She concentrates more on the right hand, but looks at both throughout the reading. There are three main lines: life line, head line, and love line. My life line is long. My head line bifurcates which she translated into a career change. I think that’s probably business school. My love line has a lot of different cross-hatches in it, meaning I’ll have a lot of different relationships. The most interesting thing she saw in my hand was a split at the very end of my love line. It splits into two different lines at the very end. I gulped when I heard this, thinking I may have to decide between two men? But she said it could mean I may have to decide between two metaphorical loves…like choosing between two things I’m passionate about.

I have a fortune line that comes in from the bottom of my palm. I also have a pronounced money line that intersects with my career. I guess I won’t be marrying rich!

My elongated nail beds and rounded fingertips mean I am well-rounded and quantitative/analytical by nature. People who have pointy fingertips are psychic. I think the biggest take-away for me was that my palm lines are not very pronounced. She said that means I have more control over my destiny, that my actions have more of an effect on how my life plays out.

Here are some other things she said, but I’m not sure how she derived them. I’m moody, stubborn, musically-inclined, practical, and an idealist when it comes to love. I also look at small details to extrapolate the big picture whereas most people start with the big picture then get down to the details. And I’m a jack of all trades, master of none.

The very last thing that she did was “paint” my hand. She said, “I’m painting your hand” and pretended to paint my hand red with a paintbrush. She then told me to take my hand and stamp it on the table top. I slammed my hand down loudly and took it away quickly.

“Ahhhh. You are a very deliberate person with how you slammed your hand. That’s really interesting how you took your hand away so quickly. It means you’re very closed off.”

Cool huh? I told her she really should charge for her services and advertise on Yelp or Craigslist to supplement grad school.

    Hi Catherine,

I enjoyed reading your post on your palm reading — and I am looking for a good one for a housewarming party I’m throwing next month.

Would you be able to put me in touch with her? I would love to hire her for a few hours during the party.

I would really appreciate your help as I just started my search for a great palm reader!

    Thank you,
    Destinee
