Marc is running the Chicago marathon this Sunday. A week ago we bet $500 that he would cross (or not cross) the finish line in 3:30. I am totally a betting girl and don’t take bets lightly. Sure of a win on my part, I thought about how I’d frivolously spend my new cash.
But yesterday I sent him this email:

i have been thinking about all the great things i’m going to spend my money on when you paypal me my $500.
while walking home today, i thought back to when i ran the marathon and how petrified i was. i couldn’t sleep, i was hyperventilating at the start. seriously, your mind needs to be focused on finishing—especially for your first fucking marathon. you do NOT want to focus on doing a personal best at your first marathon. totally ludicrous!
so the bet is off. i want you to relax as much as you can, seriously enjoy the scenery of my former town chicago, and not freak out about a bet that we made at 1am after doing shots!
YOU ARE GOING TO ROCK IT!
