I try not to waste my time with movies. I watch very few (never any more than a handful) each year. It seems this winter there’s a lot out there: I am Legend, Charlie Wilson’s War… This is coming off of my wondrous review for Atonement, I feel trite saying this with another movie. I ADORED THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY. I thought it was even better than the book which I loved. I think the director is brilliant in how he conceived it, structured it. The acting is good, but really what makes this movie is how the scenes are shot: through the eyes of a man who has ‘locked-in’ syndrome. His body cannot function. The only operational parts of his body are his mind and one of his eyes. The scene where the doctor is permanently stitching up one of his eyes is gut-wrenching. It’s like you yourself are getting your eye sewn up. I’m a huge fan of independent film…no one seems to know what I’m talking about when I mention this movie. Go see it. It is a testament to the celebration of life by reliving your memories.

Hmm it seems the 7 days/7 blog entries resolution is alive and well for 2008. I saw Charlie Wilson’s War, it was good. A few poignant moments, some great chr acting by Mr. Hoffman, and an interesting story with a political twist at the end that will appeal to anyone not living in a “red state”.
Got your msg, I’ve been slammed with some business stuff, I’ll call soon.

ps. you have plenty to say even though I read this stuff (I have missed entries you know!, seriously, lots more to you than this blog, eh?).
