I had my teeth cleaned this past week. It was the most painful cleaning I’ve ever experienced. Ironically, their tag line is ‘Dentistry with a Woman’s Touch’ because all of the dentists are women.
As the hygienist scraped away, she asked, “Do you hear that?” Srape, scrape, scrape. “That’s plaque.” I could see blood on her gloves as she scraped close to my gums. I was ready to disagree. It felt like she was scraping away my tooth enamel.
After my cleaning, the dentist came in and examined me.
1. You need an electric toothbrush. We sell those here.
2. You grind your teeth. You need a night guard.
3. Because you grind your teeth, your gums are receding. We need to book an appointment with the periodontist to take a look at your gums. She’s probably going to want to do some grafting.
Wow! That is some serious cross-selling and up-selling. I’m surprised they didn’t try to sell me Zoom, teeth-whitening. I don’t even believe them. I want a second opinion. I’m changing to a new dentist after six months. How do you know whether these people are scamming you or not? Totally annoying.
